The Coven’s Cottage
I absolutely love this shop; it holds a special place in my heart. It was the first shop I visited on my very first visit to Salem, and I always take my friends here when they come to visit. The Coven’s Cottage focuses primarily on Norse, Germanic, Celtic, and nature-based traditions, offering authentic products for various pagan paths. What sets this shop apart is their commitment to authenticity over commercialization – you can really feel the difference when you walk in.
I love their jewelry, crystals, and herbs, but honestly, everything here is carefully curated with intention and knowledge. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and welcoming, with dried flowers and herbs hanging from the ceiling, creating this enchanting botanical vibe that you can smell as soon as you step inside. The staff is genuinely knowledgeable about the spiritual traditions they serve and can guide yo,u whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or just curious about exploring these paths. It’s one of those rare shops that feels truly authentic rather than touristy, a real sanctuary in the heart of Salem!

Crow Haven
Crow Haven is the oldest witch shop in Salem, and therefore, a must-visit! Founded decades ago, this iconic shop has become a cornerstone of Salem’s witchcraft community and a beloved destination for both locals and visitors. They’re famous for their love clairvoyant Lorelei, who has been reading for people for years and has quite the reputation!
Beyond the psychic readings, Crow Haven offers an incredible selection of magical supplies, including crystals, herbs, candles, mojo bags, witch balls, and beautiful jewelry. The atmosphere here is authentically mystical – you can really feel the history and energy of the space. They also host special events in their garden, so be sure to check their website for walking tours and seasonal celebrations!

Hex Old World Witchery
Hex is the real deal and just got even better! They recently merged with OMEN and moved to a larger space, making this the biggest witchcraft shop in Salem. They have something for any magical need including oils, candles, soaps, potent charms, and even voodoo dolls. They’re still offering those handcrafted soul jars, but they warn that these jars need to be used responsibly. The expanded space means even more selection for all your magical needs!

The Cauldron Black
The Cauldron Black is exactly what you want it to be. They offer everything from psychic readings, to tarot card readings, to online courses. They have books, crystals, herbs, tarot cards and runes, anything and everything as they are purveyors of fine occult goods.

HausWitch Home + Healing
This very cool shop provides locals and visitors alike with witchy handmade products! According to their website, they “combine the principles of earth magic, meditation, herbalism, and interior decorating…” That sounds pretty great to me! What I love about HausWitch is how they’ve created this perfect blend of mystical and modern; their products are designed to bring magic and healing into everyday spaces without being over-the-top.
You’ll find everything from beautiful tarot decks and essential oil sprays to crystals and spell kits, plus gorgeous home décor items that would look amazing in any space. The shop was founded by Erica Feldmann (aka the Head Witch in Charge), and you can even pick up her book “HausMagick” while you’re there.
They also offer online tarot salons and psychic readings, plus they have an amazing online store if you can’t make it to Salem in person.

The Witch House Gift Shop
Just trust me, stop in here and check out all of the things this gift shop has to offer! What makes this place so special is its location right at the historic Witch House (also known as the Jonathan Corwin House), which is the only structure still standing in Salem with direct ties to the 1692 witch trials. The gift shop itself has this wonderful old-world charm with gorgeous antique wooden shelves lined with unique treasures and beautiful dried flowers hanging from the ceiling.
It’s compact but packed with carefully curated items; you’ll find everything from books about Salem’s history to handcrafted jewelry, local artwork, and witch-themed gifts that feel authentic rather than touristy. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, making it feel like you’re browsing through a charming cottage rather than a typical gift shop. Magic Parlor
This is such a gem! Established in 1997, Magic Parlor is like stepping into a magical wonderland. They carry everything from professional-grade makeup (perfect for Halloween!) to spiritual items, magic tricks, and costumes. The current owner, who works in the film industry, offers amazing makeup tips. Plus, they offer some of the best psychic readings in Salem – visitors consistently rave about their readers, Dave and the famous Theresa DeVoe. It’s packed with so much stuff that you could easily spend hours browsing!

Wynott’s Wands
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, this store is absolutely magical! Wynott’s Wands makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into Ollivander’s wand shop from the movies. They specialize in handcrafted wands, and while they don’t specify what each wand is made of, like in the Harry Potter universe, the craftsmanship is incredible, and each one feels truly special. The shop has this enchanting atmosphere that transports you straight into the wizarding world.
You’ll find an amazing selection of beautifully crafted wands, each with its own unique character and design. The staff is knowledgeable and can help you find the perfect wand that “chooses you.” Beyond wands, they also carry other magical accessories and Harry Potter-inspired items. It’s definitely a must-visit for anyone who’s ever dreamed of receiving their Hogwarts letter!

Blackcraft Salem
Housed in a gorgeous converted historic bank with original marble floors, teller counters, and actual bank vaults (all painted black, of course), this alternative fashion store is absolutely stunning. They carry gothic and alternative clothing in extended sizes, which is so refreshing to see. The back of the store features Blackcraft Coffee, designed to resemble a witch’s cottage, and it even has a haunted house experience attached. Plus, they have the largest witch statue in Salem. Whether you’re into gothic fashion or want to see an incredible store transformation, this is a must-visit.

Vampfangs
New England’s only vampire boutique! Established in 1993, this is the place to go for custom vampire fangs, gothic clothing, and vampire lifestyle products. It’s one of the few places in Salem where you can actually buy well-made, fashionable gothic attire instead of touristy t-shirts. They also host amazing community events like vampire balls and Sabbat rituals. The atmosphere is dark and Gothic, but still very welcoming.

Artemisia Botanicals
Otherwise known as the witches’ apothecary, this charming shop is a treasure trove for anyone interested in herbalism, natural healing, or just beautiful botanicals! You’ll find an incredible selection of dried flowers, herbs, and loose-leaf teas – everything is carefully sourced and beautifully displayed. The soap selection is absolutely divine and smells amazing!
What I love about Artemisia Botanicals is how educational and welcoming they are. The staff is knowledgeable about herbs and can guide you whether you’re looking for something specific for tea blending, magical practices, or natural wellness. The shop has this lovely, earthy atmosphere with herbs and flowers displayed in glass jars and hanging bundles throughout the space. You can really smell the herbs as soon as you walk in – it’s so grounding and peaceful. Whether you’re a seasoned herbalist or just curious about natural products, this place feels like stepping into a traditional apothecary from another era!

Witch City Wicks
You won’t regret a visit to Witch City Wicks – this place is absolutely magical! I love their handcrafted small batch soy candles that are made exclusively right here in Salem. Each candle has its own personality, and the scents are incredible. But they’re so much more than just candles! They offer a beautifully curated selection of books, jewelry, prints, and home décor that all have this perfect witchy-but-elegant vibe.
Their perfumes are amazing too – I’m thinking of trying Sea Witch next! What makes Witch City Wicks special is how everything feels cohesive and thoughtfully chosen. It’s not just random witchy stuff thrown together, but a carefully curated collection that would look beautiful in any home. The candles burn cleanly, and the scents fill your space with the most wonderful aromas. Whether you’re looking for the perfect candle to create ambiance, a unique piece of jewelry, or a beautiful print for your wall, this shop has that perfect blend of mystical and modern that Salem does so well!

Harrison’s has a ridiculous selection of anything you can think of in the pop culture world. I love their selection of Pop Dolls (Funko Pops) – seriously, they have an amazing variety that rivals any big box store. The last time we were there I found the Witch King on a Nazgul (Yes, Lord of the Rings Nerds here), which was such an exciting find! But beyond the Funkos, they also carry comics, collectibles, action figures, and a wide range of geeky treasures.
The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about their products, and they’re great at helping you track down specific items or recommending new finds. Whether you’re a serious collector or just browsing for something fun, Harrison’s has that perfect mix of nostalgia and new releases that makes every visit an adventure!

Wicked Good Books

I just love this bookstore and I stop every time I’m in Salem! It’s an independent bookstore that features new and used books, literary gifts, and home décor. Like many other independent bookstores, they’ve had their challenges, but they’re still going strong and deserve our support! What makes Wicked Good Books so special is their carefully curated selection – you’ll find everything from bestsellers to hidden gems, plus an excellent collection of books about Salem and by local authors.
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about books, and they’re always happy to make recommendations based on what you’re looking for. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with that wonderful smell of books that every book lover adores. They also carry beautiful literary gifts, bookmarks, and unique home décor items that book enthusiasts will appreciate. It’s the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time browsing, and you’ll likely leave with more books than you planned to buy!

The history nerd in me loves this place simply because it’s America’s oldest continuously operating candy company. That’s right, they have been making delicious confections since 1806! Home of the famous Salem Gibraltar and Blackjacks, as well as a large selection of chocolates, fudges, taffies, caramels, and an array of nostalgic treats.
Try the blackjacks – they’re a unique Salem tradition! What makes Ye Olde Pepper Companie so special is that you’re not just buying candy, you’re experiencing a piece of American history. The Gibraltar candy is their signature treat, a hard candy that has been made the same way for over 200 years. The shop itself has this wonderful old-fashioned charm, and watching them make candy is fascinating if you catch them in action. They also have seasonal specialties and beautifully packaged gift boxes that make perfect souvenirs. It’s the kind of place where you can taste history while satisfying your sweet tooth!

New England Dog Biscuit Company
This is an adorable little pet shop that offers dog treats that my boys absolutely love! The treats are all-natural and homemade right in Salem, which is very cool; you know you’re getting quality, locally-made products. What makes this place so special is their commitment to using only the best ingredients for our furry friends. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about pet nutrition and can recommend the perfect treats for your dog’s specific needs or dietary restrictions.
Beyond the amazing biscuits, they offer a range of pet supplies and accessories, making it a great one-stop shop for pet parents. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming – they genuinely love animals, and it shows in everything they do. Bonus: you can now purchase their biscuits and cookies online, so you can keep your pups happy with Salem-made treats even after you get home! It’s the perfect place to spoil your four-legged travel companions.

Who doesn’t love a good Halloween destination? Salem, Massachusetts, is the perfect place to head this October. And you can’t go wrong with any of these shops. Whatever you do, make sure to check out some witch-specific shops! The new additions, like Blackcraft Cult and the expanded Hex, really show how Salem’s shopping scene continues to evolve while maintaining its authentic magical charm.
