These are wonderful boots. I wore them around the house over the weekend to break them in. I can now slide them on and off with no snugness. I've worn them with thick socks and tights. I have plantar fasciitis and usually need an insoles. So far I haven't with these boots. If I do end up needing to use insoles, there is room.I only gave this four stars though as I purchased the dark olive color. As you can see, these are not dark olive. I thought when I first opened the box it was just because they were new and dark. But now that I have worn them, they are clearly not the dark olive I thought I purchased. I double checked my order and the box they came in. They both said dark olive. I'll obviously be keeping them because they have exceeded my expectations in wearability, but I am disappointed they are not the color I had been eyeing for seven months.

After reading reviews I bought the 6.5, half a size up, and they're a great fit. Beautiful leather, lovely, versatile color, and really elegant. I have a narrow foot, and the fit is ideal but if you run wide, heads up, because the shank is on the narrow side of medium, and the toe box might be tight for you. They slip on and off easily, have a great fit around the ankle - they skin, and don't flop, as some Chelsea and other ankle boots can. I love the sole; there's a nice non-skid rubber bit, but it's not bulky. These will look equally great with jeans as with tights and skirts or leggings, and with dresses all year (where are my fellow GenX people?). I've been thinking about these since last year and debated about the price point, but the quality is excellent, and I expect them to last a long time, and get a beautiful patina with wear. If you have high arches consider an insole, though they're surprisingly comfortable for being as flat as they are. I wouldn't miss out on these; they're going to be in heavy rotation next to my Sorels. It doesn't surprise me to see so many reviews about people wearing them in Europe; they are that cool, that understated, that hip, without looking at all like you're trying to be trendy. A classic boot worth every penny.

I've been looking for a Chelsea that I like for a while. I don't love a very wide ankle shaft, but I also don't want a boot that is impossible to put on and remove. These boots fit the bill perfectly! As I break them in more, slipping them on and off will be even easier. I love that the shaft is about an inch higher than any of my other boots, so they are perfect for wearing socks with skinny jeans without looking ridiculous. These were comfortable right from the start without an official break-in period. I love the olive color I got as it's a magical neutral that looks good with just about every color I've worn.

These are beautiful boots. I love the style, the height, the leather. Although they seem true-to-size, Sadly I need to return as the toe box is quite narrow. For those of us with wider feet, they are tight. I thought about wearing thick socks and trying to power through with the hopes that the leather would stretch, but if the leather did have some flexibility it might change the overall shape of the shoe. At this price point I want a boot that fits well right away.

Shoes arrived on a Friday. Looked sleek and very cool. Did a quick try on just to check fit and while a bit snug on the foot, lots of room around ankles. Not wholly uncomfortable and leather does always expand a bit, but, folks noting narrower fit at foot are true to words there.

Wore the shoes first time today at work where I teach and walk around office and class mostly. No scuffing or hitting shoes on anything. When I took them off for a break at end of day, I noticed some black flakes on my one hand. The right shoe is perfect. Looks shiny. However, the left had some issues showing already with material coming off the sole and leather starting to strip off one small section. You barely notice it but when I came home and took off shoe, more came off. It’s just the one small section but at 160, I don’t expect shoes like this to do this after day one, and, as said, the right shoe is absolutely pristine.

So, not sure what’s happening there but disheartening as that is likely to just keep getting worse.

These boots are lovely. No weird smells just lovely leather smell. They were so comfortable right out of the box and fit true to size. I have worn with and without socks (Southern California warm climate) and no blisters. I walked for miles and miles on vacation in PA and NJ and these boots were warm and stylish for dinner out plus durable for a wet hike in the wood. Even some just brushed clean after the mud dried without a mark on the leather.
